On Becoming Authentic

In 2013, at the age of 40, I jumped out of an airplane to celebrate the anniversary of 1 year clean and sober. It was a leap of faith.

It was the most exhilarating experience of my life. The man who jumped in tandem let me free fall longer than typical. I remember asking him to do that moments before we stepped out into nothingness.  I longed for the physical feeling of completely letting go. Free of anything holding me down and keeping me in chains.

I trusted him. I knew he’d bring me down safely, and he did.  It’s hard to describe just how extraordinary this experience was; I could say it was euphoria.  It was as if I was being born again into a healthier body, mind and soul.

The creation of this blog is another leap of faith for me. It is a chance for me to be transparent and creative, and share my experiences of a life unexpected.

I invite you to read my blog and find connection and hope.
